In a world where sustainability is paramount, precision and innovation in instrumentation and measurement have become essential pillars for addressing global challenges. The IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Chapter at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) proudly presents “Symposium on Harnessing AI and Next-Gen Smart Sensing Solutions for Sustainable Futures“, an exceptional symposium that will serve as a beacon of knowledge, inspiration, and collaboration in the fields of measurement science, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart sensing technologies.

This symposium is a call to action for the instrumentation and measurement community to explore and redefine the role of precision measurement in achieving sustainable futures. While it recognizes the significant strides made in instrumentation and measurement, it also acknowledges that AI and smart sensing technologies are rapidly transforming the landscape. The symposium will focus on the symbiotic relationship between precision measurement, AI, and smart sensing, with a primary goal to address global sustainability challenges.

Key Objectives

  • Revolutionize Precision Measurement: The symposium seeks to revolutionize the field of precision measurement by showcasing the latest advancements, tools, and methodologies that push the boundaries of precision and accuracy. Researchers and practitioners will share their insights into cutting-edge calibration techniques, metrology advancements, and novel measurement instruments.
  • Empower Sustainable Development: Precision measurement is not an end in itself but a means to an end—sustainable development. The symposium will explore how precise measurements are essential for environmental monitoring, sustainable energy management, healthcare diagnostics, manufacturing efficiency, and more. It will also highlight how AI and smart sensing enhance the precision of measurements, enabling us to make data-driven decisions for a more sustainable future.

  • Foster Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Sustainability challenges require interdisciplinary solutions. The symposium will provide a platform for experts from various fields, including AI, IoT, environmental science, healthcare, and industry, to come together and collaborate on innovative solutions. Through panel discussions, workshops, and presentations, participants will explore how precision measurement can address complex challenges and contribute to sustainable development goals.

  • Inspire Future Leaders: As we navigate the complex landscape of measurement and sustainability, it is crucial to nurture the next generation of leaders. The symposium will feature a dedicated program for students, including Design challenge, paper competitions, hackathons, mentorship opportunities, and interactive learning experiences, to inspire and empower emerging professionals to become stewards of precision and sustainability.
